The Community Sports Centre in Roehampton has been a magical place for Australian players.
Located 10 minutes north-west of the All England Club, Roehampton is known for its peaceful, park-like scenery and holds the key to 32 players gaining Wimbledon main-draw entry through the tournament's men’s and women’s qualifying competitions.
Since 2013, at least one Australian has progressed through qualifying to take their place in The Championships main draw, providing a plethora of feel-good stories.
In 2023, Storm Hunter realised her Wimbledon dream following a tough road with injury, while last year, Priscilla Hon won fans over with her persistence.
After six unsuccessful attempts at qualifying, Hon saved five match points in the final round of qualifying to prevail over Victoria Mboko, who is now a top-10 player. It came five years after a hip labral tear threatened to prematurely end Hon's career.

Talia Gibson, who features in the Wimbledon 2026 main draw after her top-100 rise this season, also had her Roehampton moment in 2025, saving match point in her final qualifying match against 10th seed Solana Sierra.
Several Australians have experienced the thrill of qualifying at Roehampton more than once. Notably, Alex Bolt has qualified on three occasions – 2019, 2024, 2025 – recording some epic wins in the process.
Arguably his most compelling qualifying run came in 2024. After a last-minute call to replace Valentin Vacherot 10 minutes before play commenced on the opening day, the South Australian won all three of his qualifying matches.
This included overcoming a two-set deficit and saving a match point against Switzerland’s Leandro Riedi in the final round. Making his seventh Wimbledon qualifying appearance in 2026, Bolt will hope to strike form at Roehampton for a fourth time.
"I've got some really, really nice memories here at Roey," he said at Wimbledon 2025 qualifying.
"My game style really suits the surface. It's just the love of the game, the love of the grass. I feel at home on this stuff."
Hon and Hunter join Bolt in 2026 qualifying, hoping to relive their magical qualifying campaigns in the women's draw.
With form on their side, James McCabe, Maddison Inglis and Chris O’Connell also aim to relive their past Roehampton successes.
McCabe, who qualified for Wimbledon in 2025, recorded his first ATP 250 victory and top-50 win in s-Hertogenbosch. After coming through qualifying at the Dutch tournament, he recorded a come-from-behind victory over 2025 finalist Zizou Bergs in the first round.
Inglis, who won through in Roehampton in 2022, recently qualified for the WTA 500 event at Queen’s Club in Londona and sent world No.18 Sorana Cirstea to a third set in her first-round match.
O’Connell, a Wimbledon qualifier in 2021 qualifier, has warmed up to his 2026 campaign by claiming the Nottingham Challenger title – his first professional singles title on grass.
However, the final day at Roehampton could belong to a first-time qualifier, with seeds Taylah Preston and Dane Sweeny emerging as strong contenders.
Both at career-high rankings, Preston and Sweeny arrive with growing belief.
The pair claimed maiden Grand Slam match wins at Australian Open 2026 and have continued to build momentum over the past 12 months.
Tristan Schoolkate, Bernard Tomic and Emerson Jones will also feature in Wimbledon qualifying, extending the Australian contingent to 11.
The Wimbledon men's qualifying tournament begins on Monday 22 June. Wimbledon women's qualifying commences on Tuesday 23 June.
