A quartet of Australian men have taken a step towards reaching the main draw at Wimbledon after winning their first-round qualifying matches on Monday.
Two also bowed out on a sweltering day at Roehampton in southwest London.
Dane Sweeny, Tristan Schoolkate, Chris O'Connell and Bernard Tomic were the victors, the first three of those living up to being seeded 11th, 28th and 32nd respectively.
However, James McCabe and Alex Bolt are out.
Tomic now plays O'Connell, with the winner of that all-Aussie clash one match away from a place in the main draw.
Tomic, a Wimbledon quarterfinalist 15 years ago aged 18, defeated Japan's Kaichi Uchida 6-3 6-2. O'Connell, fresh from winning his first grasscourt event in Nottingham on Saturday, beat Joel Schwaerzler of Austria 7-6(3) 6-4.
O’Connell has built a six-match winning streak as he targets a fourth consecutive appearance in the main draw at the All England Club.
Schoolkate defeated local wildcard Johannus Monday 7-5 6-3 and will next meet another Briton, Dan Evans, the 36-year-old former world No.21 attempting to play in his final Wimbledon main draw.
Sweeny, who like Schoolkate is bidding to reach his first Wimbledon main draw, eased past Franco Roncadelli of Uruguay 6-4 6-2 and next meets American Darwin Blanch.
Sweeny, now 21-16 in 2026 and at a career-high ranking of world No.126, has won four of his past six matches on grass after recently reaching the Challenger semifinals in Ilkley.
McCabe lost to former Wimbledon quarterfinalist Roman Safiullin; after a one-sided first set he pushed Safiullin closer before succumbing 6-1 7-6(4).
Bolt went down 7-6(3) 7-5 to Britain's Oliver Tarvet.
Australian women Emerson Jones, Taylah Preston, Storm Hunter, Priscilla Hon and Maddison Inglis begin their qualifying campaigns on Tuesday, hoping to join the dozen Aussies who have already booked a main-draw place via their ranking.
