Two of Australia’s junior talents will begin their Roland Garros campaigns on Sunday night.

Victorian Daniel Jovanovski was joined in the main draw by Mustafa Ege Sik, who won two matches in straight sets to qualify for the boys’ singles tournament in Paris.

Another Aussie, Jake Dembo, won his first qualifying match before falling at the final hurdle.

Jovanovski, the 18-year-old currently 33rd in the ITF junior rankings, opens against No.12 seed Yannik Alvarez of Puerto Rico.

Six weeks ago, Jovanovski claimed the J300 title in Kuching, Malaysia, and has built a 13-5 win-loss record on the junior tour in 2026.

Sik, who reached the third round of last week’s J500 claycourt event in Milan, hopes to win his third straight match in Paris when he takes on Brazil’s Pedro Henrique Chabalgoity.

Sik and Jovanovski are also partnering in the boys’ doubles event, where they’ve drawn seventh seeds Zangar Nurlanuly and Savva Rybkin first up.

In the girls’ singles, Renee Alame flies the Aussie flag and begins her campaign against No.9 seed Charo Esquiva Bañuls of Spain.

Alame will combine with Czech Sofie Hettlerova in the girls’ doubles; the duo have drawn Chinese pair Sun Xinran and Zhang Ruien, the No.4 seeds.

On Saturday at Roland Garros, Daria Kasatkina’s 6-0 7-5 loss to world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka leaves no Australians remaining in men’s or women’s singles.

However, Ellen Perez remains alive in the women’s doubles tournament, where she’s through to the last 16.

Seeded seventh and teaming with Dutchwoman Demi Schuurs, Perez faces Beatriz Haddad Maia and Liudmila Samsonova for a place in the quarterfinals.

In 2023, Perez went all the way to the semifinals when partnering Nicole Melichar-Martinez.

Perez, and Alame, are expected to play their matches on Monday at Roland Garros.

The wheelchair tournaments are also approaching, with the singles and doubles draws for men’s, women’s and quad events scheduled to be revealed on Monday.
