Emerson Jones and Storm Hunter kept their Wimbledon 2026 main-draw hopes alive after recording victories in the opening qualifying matches at Roehampton on Tuesday.
They join fellow Australians Dane Sweeny, Tristan Schoolkate, Chris O’Connell and Bernard Tomic in the second round, after their respective wins on Monday.
After reaching the Wimbledon girls’ singles final in 2024, Jones is two wins away from making her All-England Club debut as a professional player, following her 6-2 6-1 triumph over Czech Linda Fruhvirtova.
Jones, two weeks from turning 18, showcased experience beyond her years to claim victory in 54 minutes. The world No.135 struck 26 winners to five in a clinical display.
It wasn't the first time the Gold Coast teenager had defeated Fruhvirtova, having claimed her maiden WTA 1000 victory against the former top-50 player at the Miami Open in March.

Jones faces world No.210 Anastasia Gasanova in her next match, hoping to reach the final round of qualifying in Roehampton for the second year in a row.
In her first Wimbledon qualifying match since 2023, Hunter overcame Belgian Sofia Costoulas 7-5 6-4.
The 31-year-old was aggressive at the net, winning 13 points to Costoulas’s three in the 82-minute encounter.
Targeting a second main-draw appearance at the All England Club., Hunter next battles Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
Should both women progress to that stage, Hunter would face US Open 2019 champion Bianca Andreescu in the final qualifying round.
In other results, Taylah Preston, Maddison Inglis and Priscilla Hon were unable to win their opening matches.
Preston and Inglis fell in tight three-set battles to Italian opponents, losing to Tyla Caterina Grant and Lucia Bronzetti respectively, while Hon was beaten by Japan’s Nao Hibino.
