Australia’s top junior tennis players will take to clay tomorrow as the 2026 12/u and 14/u Australian Claycourt Championships kick off in Lyneham, Canberra, with action on court from Tuesday 14 to Sunday 19 April.

Marking the start of the national junior calendar, more than 128 players from across the country are set to compete across the 12-and-under and 14-and-under age groups, all vying for national titles on clay.

Lennox Kelly (Qld) will take his place as the top seed in the 12-and-under boys, while Sadie Gillard (SA) will lead the 12-and-under girls.

Leading the 14-and-under girls is top seed Seungyeon Seo (Qld), with local Canberra favourite Tommy Camus (ACT) to lead the 14-and-under boys.

The Claycourt Championships are one of four national events on the Competitive Play calendar, alongside hard court and grass court championships, designed to support the ongoing development of the country’s top junior tennis players.

Director of Player Development at Tennis Australia, Nicole Kriz, said the event plays a critical role in the junior calendar, bringing together the country’s leading young talent for one of the first major competitive opportunities of the year.

“The Claycourt Championships play a key role in our junior pathway, giving players the opportunity to compete at a national level and test themselves against the best in the country.

“Providing high quality competition across different surfaces is critical to developing well rounded players and preparing them for future opportunities, particularly as players look towards international competition.

“These events are also about enjoying the competition, building friendships and growing as individuals, not just as athletes, which is another important part of long term development.”

Past champions of the event include Grand Slam winner Ash Barty and Australian Open doubles champion Nick Kyrgios, highlighting the role the event plays in developing future elite players.

Acceptance lists, draws, live scoring and results will be available here.
