The Participation Coaching Course (Frm. Foundation Coaching Course) is suitable for those who would like to begin coaching Tennis, or who are currently coaching, under the direct supervision of a qualified Tennis coach.

Course participants will have the opportunity to experience Hot Shots Tennis activities for Blue and Red stage players on court using modified balls, racquets, nets and courts appropriate to the developmental needs of these players.

While the majority of the course is conducted on-court, participants will also gain an awareness of their responsibilities as a coach to ensure a safe environment for all Tennis participants.

In 2024 this course will be available online.

Aim of the course:

• The opportunity to experience Hot Shots Tennis activities and contemporary coaching methodology
• An awareness of the legal and ethical responsibilities of a Tennis coach

Learning outcomes:

• Assist in conducting safe Blue and Red stage Hot Shots Tennis activities under the direct supervision of a qualified Tennis coach
• Awareness of contemporary coaching methodology
• Awareness of the Tennis Australia national policies (e.g., Member Protection policy, child safety guidelines) and the Coaches Code of Conduct

Pre-requisites:

• Relevant State/Territory Working with Children Check
• Minimum age – 16 years
• National Police Check

Length:

Five hours (plus one hour for lunch/breaks)

Cost:

$135.00 (inc. GST). Participants aligned with a Business Tennis Australia Coach Member are eligible for a 30% discount. The reduced fee will be $95.00 (inc. GST).

Note: Two years of Trainee Tennis Australia Coach Membership is included in the course fee.

Career outcomes:

Tennis Australia Participation Coach – These coaches would be working as an assistant coach under the direct supervision of a Tennis Australia qualified coach. They would be assisting with the delivery of Hot Shots Tennis sessions for Blue and Red stage players.
