What is Junior Tournaments?
Junior Tournaments (JT) is an umbrella tour that provides a clear competitive pathway for aspiring tennis players. The JT tournaments offer Australian Ranking points across 4 levels; Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze.
These tournaments offer points across the 12/u, 14/u and 16/u age groups, with select tournaments also offering points in the 18/u age group. These tournaments can be found in each state/territory of Australia, giving all juniors the opportunity to obtain an Australian Ranking.
Types of JTs
The four levels of Junior Tournaments are as follows:
JT Platinum Series (Australian Junior Championships)
Each year Tennis Australia conducts Australian Junior Championships to assist the development of our high performance athletes. These tournaments are the pinnacle in competition for tennis athletes, and provide maximum Australian Ranking points in each age level. In 2021, the Australian Junior Championships will be played in Melbourne, Perth and Canberra.
JT Gold Series
The JT Gold Series are historically the major junior championships in each state/territory, they offer the highest amount of Australian Ranking points outside of the Australian Junior Championships.
The JT Gold Series are currently postponed during the January to March 2021 period and will look to return to the Australian Ranking Tournaments calendar from April 2021.
JT Silver Series
The JT Silver Series offers the third highest amount of Australian Ranking points in Junior Tournaments.
The JT Silver Series will make a return to the Australian Ranking tournaments calendar from January 2021.
JT Bronze Series
The JT Bronze Series offers the fourth highest amount of points in Junior Tournaments. These events are aimed as an introduction to junior tournament match play.
The JT Bronze Series will make a return to the Australian Ranking tournaments calendar from January 2021.
