The Orange Ball Tournament Circuit incorporates a series of events specifically for Hot Shots Orange Stage 2 players, developed to engage them with practical skill development opportunities and competitive match-play experiences.  All matches are played with Orange Balls (50% compression), on chalked or taped ITF standard Orange stage courts, and players must not use a racquet bigger than 25″ in length.

HOW DO I ENTER AN ORANGE BALL TOURNAMENT:

Entry is $40.00. To find and enter a tournament please click here. Enter by Monday 11:59 pm before the tournament. To find a tournament, click on the advanced search button, then filter tournaments to the month and postcode of the tournament. 

WHAT IS THE FORMAT FOR EACH TOURNAMENT?

  • Players will be guaranteed four (4) matches on the day (withdrawals on the day may impact this).
  • Scoring for each match is first to 4 games with a tie-break to be played (first to 7 points), should the score reach 3-3.
  • The scoring for the Final is first to 6 games with a tie-break to be played (first to 7 points), should the score reach 5-5.
  • Players will serve one game at a time and change ends when the match score totals an odd number.
  • All matches have a Court Supervisor on the court at all times to assist with all parts of the game eg. (call the score, call the lines and implement the rules of the game.
  • If it is a let, it is a replay.
  • Short deuce (receivers’ choice).

WHAT IS A TYPICAL TIMELINE FOR A TOURNAMENT?

Timings will be dependent on the number of entries and gender; the times of play are generally between 7:30am to 4:00pm. (The presentation of awards sees the prize giving for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place getters and 1 x Good Sport Project Nominees for EACH event).

DO PLAYERS RECIEVE AUSTRALIAN RANKINGS OR UTR POINTS?

No, Australian Ranking or UTR points are not associated with any event within the Gold Coast Region Orange Ball Tournament Circuit. Instead, players who participate in the Gold Coast Region Orange Ball Tournament Circuit within the same calendar year will earn and accumulate points – recorded in the ‘The Bolt to Brisbane’ point race.

BOLT TO BRISBANE POINTS RACE – GOLD COAST REPRESENATIVE TEAM QUALIFICATION

The Bolt to Brisbane Points Race event will return in 2026! The allocation of points available to players at each event within the circuit is as follows: 

SINGLES
: 1st place – 100 points | 2nd place – 80 points | 3rd place – 70 points | 4th place – 60 points | 5th place – 55 points | 6th place – 50 points | 7th place – 45 points | 8th place – 40 points | Second Round – 25 points | First Round – 15 points

Selection for Bolt 2 Brisbane – Gold Coast Region Team:

Top eight (8) points race finishers will be invited to compete at the Coloured Ball Cup. The Top Four (4) finishers at the Coloured Ball Cup will be selected to represent Gold Coast at Bolt 2 Brisbane. Please note the following:

  • You have to reside within the Gold Coast Region to be eligible to play the Coloured Ball Cup | Orange Ball, as this is used as a selection tournament for the Gold Coast Bull Sharks | Bolt 2 Brisbane team.
  • If you finish in Top 8 in a higher colour, you will be invited to participate in the higher colour.

NEED TO WITHDRAW FROM AN EVENT?

  • If a player enters into an event, they are expected to play unless they become prevented by illness/injury (must provide a medical certificate).
  • If a player cannot play, their parent/guardian must notify the Tournament Director in writing ASAP.
  • Clubs are not required to issue refunds, if withdrawal procedures are not followed.
  • A player who ‘no shows’ or withdraws during the event will not receive any form of refund.
  • The withdrawal deadline is Monday 11:59 pm before the tournament and withdrawals before this deadline will be granted a $35.00 refund.
  • Players who withdraw after the above deadline but before the release of the draw will be granted a 50% refund.
  • Players who withdraw after the release of the draw will not be entitled to a refund, even if a medical certificate can be provided.

In the event that the tournament is cancelled before a player completes their first match, a full refund less a $10.00 admin fee will be issued.
