About
2024 will be the 36th edition of the event after a brief pause due to the pandemic.
14 -18th December 2024
Gold Coast – venues to be confirmed
Metropolitan are looking to defend their title but will be pushed all the way by Queensland teams from across the country.
Queensland Junior Teams Carnival is the perfect balance between Team & Individual competition. Ties consist of singles, doubles, and mixed doubles with all team members participating in an equal number of matches throughout the week.
The launch of the new Competitive Play framework and partnership with Universal Tennis nationally means that all matches played throughout the week including team rubbers will provide an opportunity for players to strengthen and develop their individual and doubles ratings throughout the week.
The ultimate award for the duration of the week for good sportsmanship and team support will be acknowledged through fellow players’ nominations. Remember unless it’s positive it’s pointless!

1 boys doubles
1 girls doubles
2 boys singles
2 girls singles
Tournament directors will announce the match formats prior to the qualifying and each round-robin match. Team managers will decide their own match formats for playoff matches.
All team event matches will be played using no-ad scoring (receivers’ choice)
Matches must be completed before the next round starts on allocated courts. Matches may start earlier if courts are available.
On-court coaching will be allowed once per rubber by the nominated team manager.
Scoring
The Regional Shield is presented to the team with the best average finish position across all age groups at the completion of the event (with a minimum of 4 teams).
If at the end of the week, two teams are tied for first place there will be no runners-up.
The winning team for each age group is the team that finishes in first place in the draw for that event.
If a player forfeits a match after play has started, the opposition will receive all remaining games. For example, if the score is 4-2 to the player who forfeits the opponent will receive 9 games with the score ending 9-4.
The team with the greater number of rubbers won will be declared the winner of the match. If the number of rubbers won is equal, the team that has won the greater number of games will be declared the winner. If the number of games won is equal, then the match will be declared a draw.
For each match win two points will be awarded to the winning team. In the event of a drawn/incomplete match each team will be awarded one point.
At the completion of the round robin’s final placings will be determined by:
- Total points
- Head-to-Head
- Rubbers (for and against)
- Games (for and against)
For any unresolved scoring issues, a decision will be made in consultation with the tournament director, referee and any involved managers.
Prizes will be awarded to members of the winner and runner-up teams of each division.
Individual Event Format
The format will be the best of two tie-break sets with a match tiebreak set to be played one set all in all the events.
Players will be expected to play each of their singles matches, if a player is unable to play one of their matches it is the decision of the tournament director/referee whether they are permitted to play in any further matches.
Winners and runners up in each age group and Tier will be awarded prizes.
