Boasting a total prizemoney pool of $30,000 and attracting a record 340 entries, the Queensland Open will showcase the state's strongest players aged 13 years and above, alongside interstate competitors and emerging Australian talent.

With free entry for spectators throughout the tournament, from 27 June to 1 July, tennis fans will have the opportunity to witness some of Queensland's best players compete for one of the state's most prestigious titles.

The tournament begins with qualifying on Saturday 27 June, before the main draw commences on Sunday 28 June. Finals will be played from 3.30pm on Wednesday 1 July at the Queensland Tennis Centre.

The Queensland Open has a proud history dating back to 1888, when it was first contested as the Queensland Championships. Over more than a century, the tournament has crowned some of the biggest names in world tennis, including Roy Emerson, Ashley Cooper, Rod Laver, Mal Anderson, Ken Rosewall, Evonne Goolagong, Wendy Turnbull and Martina Navratilova.

Today, players compete for two of Queensland tennis' most prestigious honours – the Mal Anderson Perpetual Trophy in the men's singles and the Mall Molesworth Perpetual Trophy in the women's singles.

Among the players to watch this year are defending women's champion Kayla McPhee, who enters the tournament in strong form after claiming the Queensland Money Race Final in January this year.

In the men's draw, top seed Scott Jones (WA) and second seed Matthew Hulme (QLD) headline a strong field of Australian Pro Tour competitors and will also partner as the number one seeded doubles pairing.

The tournament will also feature several exciting emerging talents making their mark on the professional circuit.

Fourth seed Hayden Jones continues to build his profile on the ITF Pro Tour and follows in the footsteps of his sister, Emerson Jones, currently ranked World No.135. Third seed Chen Dong and tenth seed Thomas Gadecki are also competing regularly on the ITF Pro Tour.

Adding further depth to the field, several players currently competing in the United States college system will also contest the event.

The Queensland Open serves as a celebration of the state's elite open-age talent and marks the beginning of an exciting fortnight of tennis at the Queensland Tennis Centre.

Immediately following the Queensland Open, the focus shifts to Queensland's next generation of stars, with the Rod Laver Lead-In Junior Championships from 2 to 6 July and the Rod Laver Junior Queensland Championships from 7 to 11 July.

Together, the two events have attracted more than 1,000 junior entries and will provide a showcase of the state's leading young players.

The Rod Laver tournaments represent the pinnacle of junior competition in Queensland.

From established champions and rising professionals, to the next wave of junior talent, the coming weeks at the Queensland Tennis Centre are set to highlight the depth and strength of Queensland tennis.
