Held during Pride Month from 19 to 21 June, the tournament highlighted the power of sport to create welcoming and inclusive spaces, with 150 players competing in 259 matches across 17 hard courts.

The Brisbane Open is the flagship event of Team Brisbane Tennis, Brisbane's largest LGBTQIA+ tennis community. Guided by its motto, "play, connect and belong", the club provides opportunities for players of all backgrounds, identities and experience levels to enjoy tennis in a safe, supportive and social environment.

As a sanctioned event on the Gay & Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA) World Tour, the Brisbane Open continues to strengthen Brisbane's reputation as a destination for inclusive competitive tennis. The tournament featured singles and doubles divisions across multiple grades, welcoming players of all identities, abilities and experience levels.

A tournament highlight was the popular One Shot Wonder competition, with one fortunate participant taking home a $500 cash prize and plenty of bragging rights.

Beyond the competition itself, the event reflected the broader impact of Team Brisbane Tennis. The volunteer-led club runs social tennis sessions three times each week across the Queensland Tennis Centre and Southside Racquet Club, fostering participation, friendship and belonging for LGBTQIA+ players and allies alike.

As Pride Month celebrations continue around the world, the Brisbane Open stands as a powerful example of how sport can bring people together — creating a space where everyone can play, connect and belong.
