ABOUT BATTLE OF THE SANDS

The Queensland JDS series is an essential entry level competition to provide quality match-play to every region across the state. The Battle of the Sands provides an opportunity for players from Metropolitan, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast & South Region who finished 3rd & 4th in their respective age groups to represent their region at the Battle of the Sands.

ELIGIBILITY

• Players must have a Tennis ID (66)
• Selected by the region
• Each region can nominate 2 boys & 2 girls in the age groups 11/u, 13/u, 15/u & 17/u
• Age as at 31/12/2024

FORMAT

• 4 x Singles, 2 x Doubles & 2 x Mixed Doubles per tie
• Best of 2 Fast4 sets with a 3rd set Match Tie-Break if required
• Teams will play 2 ties on Day 1 and 1 on Day 2
• Teams will receive 4 points for a win, 2 points for a loss & 3 points for a draw. Plus bonuses of 1 point per rubber won
• The winning team in each tie is the team with the most rubbers won. If rubbers are tied then the winning team will be decided on sets won, then the most games won, if still tied the match will be considered a draw
• The overall finishing position will be decided on competition points, if tied the winner will be decided on head-to-head, sets won, games won
