Applications are now open to children aged 12 to 16 years as at 31 December 2026, with no prior ballkid experience required.

Brisbane International Tournament Director Cameron Pearson said ballkids played an integral role and were a focal part of the summer of tennis.

"Every ballkid has the chance to share the court with some of the biggest names in world tennis, but the benefits extend well beyond the tournament itself,” he said.

"The program helps young people build confidence, develop teamwork and communication skills, and create new friendships.

"For many, it's an experience that stays with them long after the tournament ends. They leave with unforgettable memories and the confidence that comes from being part of an international sporting event."

The 2026 contingent of 100 ballkids featured children from Cairns, Rockhampton and even Melbourne.

Ballkid trials will occur in July and August, with training to commence in September.
