About the league
The Women’s Midweek League competition gives women the opportunity to play tennis during the day – participate weekly or whenever it suits you.
Unwind and socialise afterwards with a post-match lunch or just coffee at the Southern Cross Club, Jamison each week. This friendly competition is run by the Midweek Ladies Committee in the Canberra region.
Competition schedule and formats
There are four competitions held during the year – summer, autumn, winter and spring – with no play over the school holidays.

- Times: Tuesdays at 9.30am until finish (approx. 1.30pm). All players are encouraged to arrive at the courts 15 minutes early for a 9.30am start.
- Location: Belconnen Tennis Club (Melba Tennis Club is also used when extra courts are needed).
- Structure: This league uses a Concertina Ladder format to match players of similar skill levels. Each group consists of four or five players, depending on the number of players registered to play that day. Players are ranked 1 to 40+ overall, and ranked from 1-4 or 1-5 within each group every week. The No.1 player in each group for that week is designated as the court captain.
- For 4 player groups (each set is first to 8 – tiebreaker at 7-all).
- For 5 player groups (each set is first to 6 – tiebreaker at 5-all).

Registration process
- Entry fee: $10 per week
- To register: Please email your name and contact details to the Ladder Manager, Betty Smith at [email protected].
New players must register with the Ladder Manager by 5pm the Sunday two (2) days prior. Registered players will be emailed a draft list of players for the following Tuesday.
Draws and results
Before play, registered players will receive an email with an ordered draft list of players. After play, an email will be sent out with the results.
