MOST OUTSTANDING TOURNAMENT

The Most Outstanding Tournament is selected from an event on the Australian Competitive Play Calendar. The recipient of this award will have offered a complete package of on- and off-court activities and player amenities to a high standard, allowing for a positive tournament atmosphere.

The 2023 finalists are:

Lucindale Easter Tournament: The Lucindale Easter Tournament has become a destination of choice over the Easter weekend, catering for entrants, supporters, family members and club members in a safe, fun and supportive environment. On court, the tournament offered a wide range of events to suit players of all ages and abilities, while off court, Night Golf, a Quiz Night, bands and entertainment were provided, with camping available on site at the Lucindale Country Club.

Seacliff Tennis Club: Seacliff Tennis Club’s Junior Development Series event in February was open to junior players from orange ball standard through to 18 years of age. The tournament attracted a venue record number of 157 players participating in 228 matches. Off court activities were provided to entertain players in between matches.

Tea Tree Gully Tennis Club: The Just 4 Tennis New Years Open at Tea Tree Gully Tennis Club was held for the 15th year with 217 players taking part in 28 events. Twilight matches for A grade, B grade and mixed doubles creates additional opportunities for players to be involved and creates a great atmosphere at the club.

MOST OUTSTANDING CLUB-BASED COMPETITION

The Most Outstanding Club-based Competition recognises a competition that has demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and diversity, ensuring that players of all ages, abilities and backgrounds have access to a variety of competitive playing options.

The 2023 finalists are:

Greenacres Tennis Club: The unique and innovative Firey 3’s competition has reached capacity for four consecutive seasons, with positions in the competition highly sought after by club members. The club has created an environment that welcomes diversity, bringing together players of all ages and abilities for a creative and fun competition on Tuesday nights.

McLaren Vale Tennis Club: McLaren Vale Tennis Club’s Orange Ball Competition caters for players aged between 6-12 years of age. The competition helps players to experience competition tennis for the first time within the club environment with a focus on sportsmanship and fun.

Playford Tennis Centre: More than 170 players take part in Social Leagues at Playford Tennis Centre each week, providing an opportunity for players to socialise, keep fit and have fun. Social opportunities have been expanded over the last 12 months to meet the varying needs of players.

The Tennis SA State League and Metro League premiership winners and award winners will also be presented on the night.

The award winners will be announced at the Tennis SA Gala Dinner to be held at The Drive on Saturday 29 April.
