About Western Districts Tennis Association – Juniors

Running over the summer season, this inter-club league consists of a junior competition and an orange ball competition. Providing young talents affiliated with Western Districts Tennis Association with a great opportunity to improve their tennis skills, it also fosters camaraderie between teammates and encourages teamwork. 

For players interested in pursuing tennis further, joining Western Districts Tennis Association – Juniors creates a stepping stone to higher-level competitions within the state’s Performance Pathway.

Key dates and match formats

2025-26 key dates

Senior competition

  • First round: 11 October 2025 
  • Last round before Christmas: 13 December 2025 
  • Season break: After 13 December 2025, to resume on 10 January 2026 
  • Last round: 21 February 2026 
  • Finals series: The finals are going to be held over three weekends, starting on 28 February 2026, with the grand final taking place on 14 March 2026. 

Junior competition

  • First round: 18 October 2025 
  • Last round before Christmas: 13 December 2025 
  • Season break: After 13 December 2025, to resume on 31 January 2026 
  • Last round: 21 February 2026 
  • Finals series: The finals are going to be held over three weekends, starting on 28 February 2026, with the grand final taking place on 14 March 2026. 

Orange ball competition

  • The orange ball competition is played over six to eight Saturday mornings split into two seasons in Term 4 and Term 1. 

Term 4 dates 

  • Start date: 25 October 2025 
  • Final round: 29 November 2025 
  • Term 1 dates are yet to be announced. 

Match formats

Senior competition

  • Each team is made up of four players regardless of gender.   
  • Division 1 players will play one singles match and one doubles match per week. Division 2 players will play one singles match and two doubles match per week. Doubles-only competition players will play three doubles matches per week. 
  • Division 1 and the doubles-only competition are played as a first-to-nine game set with a seven-point tie-break played at eight games all. Division 2 is played as a first-to-six game set with a seven-point tie-break played at six games all. 

Junior competition

  • Each team is made up of four players regardless of gender.
  • All players will play one singles match and one doubles match per week. 
  • The sets are played as a first-to-six game set with no tiebreaker for green ball and a first-to-six game set with a seven-point-tiebreak played at six games all for yellow ball. 

Orange ball competition

  • Each team is made up of four players regardless of gender. 
  • All players will play one singles match and two doubles matches per week. 
  • The sets are played as a first-to-four game set with no tiebreaker.
