Pickleball Aus is teaming up with the National Pickleball League to launch its inaugural Pickleball Community Cup, with the first event to be held in Gawler from 31 July to 2 August 2026.

The Pickleball Community Cup is a new national event series designed to bring communities together through accessible and inclusive competition.

Built for the amateur player, the event connects great venues around the country with a focus on quality competition, strong community and a player experience that goes beyond the court.

“The Pickleball Community Cup is a celebration of the players who make up the Australian pickleball scene,” said Tennis Australia Chief Tennis Officer Tom Larner.

“We’re thrilled to roll out a series across Australia that will elevate the community experience for Pickleball players,” he added.

Gawler, South Australia, is the first stop, featuring a Friday evening social competition, gender doubles on Saturday, and mixed doubles on Sunday. Play is open to players rated under 4.5 DUPR across Beginner, Intermediate, and Intermediate Plus divisions.

"This new Pickleball tournament series offers a premium event and tournament opportunity to amateur players nationally at the best venues around the country. Pickleball is a participation sport at heart and this series helps the sport continue to grow, with a genuine competitive structure behind it,” said Ron Shell, CEO National Pickleball League.

Shell continues “The Community Cup is a celebration of everything people love about pickleball – great competition, social connection and the opportunity to be part of a welcoming and growing community.”

With 52 million players worldwide, pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports for all ages and abilities. It combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis and is played with paddles and a perforated ball on a smaller court.
