Winter is coming, and so is the competition. The Junior State League is back for its first ever winter season in 2026, bringing together the best junior players in South Australia for a Friday night home and away season that runs right through the cooler months.

Whether you’re already one of the state’s standout juniors or you’re climbing the ladder from association level, there’s a competition with your name on it.

The Junior State League isn’t just one competition, it’s a system designed to reward talent and create opportunities at every level.

At the top sits the Junior State League itself, where the best junior players in the state go head to head each week. It’s the pinnacle of junior competition in South Australia, and earning a spot here means you’ve proven yourself as one of the very best.

But the pathway starts one step below. Junior State League 2 is built for players who’ve been turning heads at association level and are ready for the next challenge. Perform well in JSL2 and the door to the Junior State League opens.

Both competitions are played on Friday nights in a structured home and away format, giving clubs and players a genuine, sustained competition to sink their teeth into across the winter season.

The first round tips off on Thursday 15 May, and the regular season runs all the way through to 14 August. That’s months of Friday night action, ladder battles, and moments that matter.
