The sun was shining for Day 7 with yesterday’s matches resumed and new match-ups taking place.
Hometown Hero Alex Bolt served his way to a win this morning against Denmark’s Carl Emil Overbeck. Aussie Dane Sweeny caused an upset knocking out the top seed with a three-set win in three hours, earing his place in tomorrow’s final. While No.2 seed Rinky Hijikata (AUS) won his quarterfinals match, and went full steam ahead to win his semifinals match, knocking out South Aussie Alex Bolt 6-3 6-3.
In the men’s doubles, Aussies came out on top, with the first semifinals match of the day seeing Jake Delaney / Li Tu taking out their Japanese opponents in just over an hour. In a similar timing, duo Anirudh Chandrasekar / Reese Stalder were victorious over their Aussie opponents 6-3 6-2.

No.3 seed Emerson Jones (AUS) secured her quarterfinals win over China’s Fangran Tian in straight sets. Jones hit the court again for a semifinals matchup against fellow Aussie Talia Gibson which saw her earn a spot in the finals.
Maddison Inglis (AUS) was victorious 7-5 6-1 against Taylah Preston (AUS), also booking her spot in the finals.
Korean duo Eunhye Lee and Dayeon Back advanced to the women’s doubles final after knocking out Aussie’s Hule / Micic. Maddison Inglis and Talia Gibson (AUS) earned their spot in the final, winning their semifinals match 6-4 6-1.
After rest, the women’s doubles finals took place, seeing Maddison Inglis and Talia Gibson become champions!
A big day tomorrow with the men’s and women’s singles finals of the City of Playford Tennis International taking place on Centre Court from 11:00am.
In an all-Aussie final across both the men’s and women’s singles, No. 3 seed Emerson Jones will take on defending champion Maddison Inglis; with No.7 seed Dane Sweeney and defending champion Rinky Hijikata set it battle it out on court right after.
