Day 4 delivered another thriller at the City of Playford Tennis International, with blockbuster match-ups, home-crowd favourites stepping up, and several hard-fought battles keeping spectators on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
Big victories for our Australian men today, with top seed James Duckworth (AUS) moving through following a straight sets victory. Similarly, Dane Sweeny moved through in two booking his place in the next round. Philip Sekulic caused an upset knocking out fellow Aussie Bernard Tomic in a nail-biting three sets. While Rio Noguchi took out his fellow countrymen Hiroki Moriya in straight sets.
Doubles duo Fin Bass (GBR) and Ajeet Rai (NZL) moved through to the next round adding to their impressive run. Ethan Cook (AUS) and Emile Hudd (NZL) secured their straight sets win in just over 40 minutes. In a similar fashion Joshua Charlton (AUS) and Carl Emil Overbeck (DEN) defeated their opponents in exactly an hour, while centre court saw Anirudh Chandrasekar (IND) and Reese Stalder (USA) also secure a quick win.
No.2 seed Talia Gibson (AUS) battled past her opponent in 3 sets. Joining her is fellow Aussie Taylah Preston who won in a similar result, 6-1 3-6 6-0. Cementing the Aussie winnings, defending Champion Madison Inglis cruised through in straight sets, alongside Storm Hunter, Elena Micic and Sarah Rokusek. Meanwhile Junior sensation Emerson Jones moves to the next round after her defeat of Belle Thompson.
Among the international winners, top seed Yuliia Starodubtseva fought to earn her place in the next round after winning in three. Lea Ma (USA), Ariana Bulatova and Mei Yamaguchi (JPN) also secured their place in the next round.
