Greenacres (City/Hills) and Strathalbyn (Rural) Tennis Clubs have been named South Australia’s Most Outstanding Tennis Clubs for 2025, highlighting their incredible commitment to community, participation, and club culture. Dedicated volunteers Klinton Devenish (City/Hills) and Kathleen Slade (Rural) were honoured with Volunteer Achievement Awards for their passion and service to the sport.
The awards, among many others, were presented at the 2025 Tennis SA Awards Night, held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Saturday 3 May.
“Tennis is thriving across South Australia, and our annual Awards Night is the perfect opportunity to recognise the remarkable individuals and clubs driving this success,” Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey said.
“It’s always inspiring to see our community come together to celebrate the achievements of the past year. From grassroots to high performance, everyone plays a part in shaping the future of our sport.”
Finalists in the City/Hills category included Seacliff Tennis Club and Sturt Lawn Tennis Club, while Mount Gambier Tennis Club and Port Lincoln Tennis Club were in contention for the Rural accolade.
Professional athletes Li Tu and Petra Hule were awarded South Australia’s highest individual honours – the Burr and Boyce Medals – with both players earning back-to-back wins for their continued excellence on and off the court.
Sarah Mildren took home the Gwen Thiele Memorial Trophy for the most outstanding 18-and-under female, and Hugh Winter won the Don Turnbull Memorial Trophy for the most outstanding 18-and-under male – his second consecutive win.
In the Most Outstanding Athlete with a Disability category, Ethan Cook and Andriana Petrakis were recognised as joint winners, highlighting their outstanding achievements and inspirational journeys.
Roger Davey was named Most Outstanding 30+ Tennis Senior, celebrating his exceptional commitment and performance on the court.
Coaching excellence was on full display, with Todd Langman winning Most Outstanding Coach – Development, Adam Fonfe taking out Most Outstanding Coach – Club, and Sam Clayson once again awarded Most Outstanding Coach – Rural.
