With sadness, the Tennis family is mourning the loss of TOA President Craig Glennon.

Craig passed away in the afternoon of Thursday 28 March, peacefully with family at Ashford Hospital at the age of 75 years after a short illness. Our prayers and condolences go to Craig’s family (Kathleen and Brian) at this time.

Craig joined Tennis Officiating in 1975 and has been an active member since in many roles including court supervisor, referee, chair umpire, line umpire and more recently as coach and evaluator. He worked at all levels from grassroots to Grand Slam for over half his life gifting his knowledge, passion and experience to many both within SA and nationally.

Craig held many roles on the board of TOASA and later served the Tennis Officials Australia Board as CEO and chairperson for many years, with his last year as Co-Chairperson. He was instrumental in the transition of Officiating in 2015 to sit nationally under the Federation of the sport, Tennis Australia.

Craig’s home club of West Beach/Xavier Tennis Club, where he was on the Committee for many years, has a bar named in his honour, retiring only recently. He also had a passion for Aussie Rules where he was involved in officiating and served on local football committees. He remained an active member doing umpire selections right up until his passing.

Many officials who met or worked with Craig, found a down to earth friendly, popular and well-respected man who was a mentor with a passion for tennis and developing officials. He was described recently by some of his close friends as a great man, good friend and a good human.

He will sadly be missed by all.
