The semifinals have been completed and the stage has been set for a big final day at the City of Playford Tennis International.

The men’s final will feature fourth seed James Duckworth (NSW) against Chak Lam Coleman Wong (HKG). Duckworth defeated defending champion Rinky Hijikata (NSW) in three sets 4-6 7-5 6-1, while Wong overcame third seed Taro Daniel (JPN) in just under three hours, 4-6 7-6(5) 7-5.

This sets up a repeat of the final held in Shenzhen, China last week. A win for Duckworth would see him claim his 14th ATP Challenger Tour title and become the first two-time champion of the City of Playford Tennis International. 19-year-old Wong however, will be hoping to claim his first title on the ATP Challenger Tour.

In the women’s, third seed Astra Sharma (WA) is the last seed standing in the draw. Sharma had a relatively straightforward win over Taylah Preston (WA) 6-2 6-3, while Joanna Garland (TPE) defeated eighth seed YeXin Ma (CHN) 6-3 6-2.

Garland has the opportunity to claim back-to-back titles after winning in Hamamatsu, Japan earlier this month, while Sharma will be hoping to claim her eighth ITF World Tennis Tour title and her second singles title for 2023.

The doubles finals were also played today with the all-American pairing of Ryan Seggerman and Patrik Trhac defeating Aussie fourth seeds Blake Ellis (Qld) and Tristan Schoolkate (WA) 6-3 7-6(3) to win the men’s, while Talia Gibson (WA) claimed back-to-back Playford doubles titles with a win alongside Priscilla Hon (Qld) against Kaylah McPhee (Qld) and Sharma in the women’s, 6-1 6-2.

Matches commence at 11:00 am tomorrow.
