Singles quarterfinals have been completed on Day 6 at the City of Playford Tennis International.

Former champions Rinky Hijikata (NSW) and James Duckworth (NSW) have set up a blockbuster semifinal clash. Hijikata took a 6-1 6-1 win over [6] Seongchan Hong (KOR), while Duckworth claimed a 4-6 6-2 6-4 victory over Hiroki Moriya (JPN). They will be joined by Chak Lam Coleman Wong (HKG), after he overcame eighth seed Tristan Schookate (WA) in just over three hours, 6-7(7) 7-6(3) 7-6(2) and third seed Taro Daniel (JPN) who defeated Yuta Shimizu (JPN) 6-1 6-2.

On the women’s side, third seed Astra Sharma (AUS) defeated Jaimee Fourlis (Vic) 6-1 6-1, Joanna Garland (TPE) overcame Seone Mendez (NSW) 7-5 7-5 and eighth seed YeXin Ma (CHN) defeated Chihiro Muramatsu (JPN) 6-1 6-4. Unfortunately, top seed Kimberly Birrell (Qld) was forced to retire from her match against Taylah Preston (WA) with a gastrointestinal illness, with the final score 4-6 7-6(2) 4-1 ret.

Tomorrow is singles semifinals and doubles finals day, with matches commencing at 11:00 am.
