Day 5 has come to an end at the City of Playford Tennis International.

Defending champion and second seed Rinky Hijikata (NSW) defeated Yasutaka Uchiyama (JPN) 6-2 7-5 in one hour and forty minutes, while 2019 #2 champion James Duckworth (NSW) overcame Philip Sekulic (Qld) 7-5 6-1. Unfortunately, top seed Thanasi Kokkinakis (SA) was forced to retire from his match with a viral illness.

In the women’s, top seed Kimberly Birrell (Qld) overcame Talia Gibson (WA) after a two-hour and-fifteen-minute battle, 3-6 6-3 6-1. While Emerson Jones’ (Qld) winning streak came to an end at the hands of Seone Mendez (NSW) 6-2 6-4.

Tomorrow is singles quarterfinals and doubles semifinals day. Hijikata and Duckworth will headline proceedings on Centre Court, with Sharma to open play on Court 9 and Birrell to play the second match on Court 8.

Matches will commence at 11:00 am.
