Maitland Lutheran School (Maitland, SA) and Linden Park Primary School (Linden Park, SA) have been named the 2022 South Australian Tennis Hot Shots School State champions, after winning their respective competitions at the Tennis SA Clay Courts this week.
The events are the culmination of 46 Tennis Hot Shots District School Carnivals held around the state throughout 2022, with the top two country and city schools receiving an Adelaide International experience in January 2023.
Tennis Hot Shots School Carnivals provide the opportunity for students of all abilities to play with their school friends and meet other students from surrounding schools. With a round robin style draw, the schools play doubles matches with simple scoring and time keeping to ensure all students are actively able to participate on the day.
Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey congratulated all involved in the state finals.
“We congratulate Maitland Lutheran School and Linden Park Primary School, along with each of the schools, teachers and parents involved in the Tennis Hot Shots School State Finals this week,” Sterrey said.
“These events provide school children with a fantastic introduction to our Tennis Hot Shots program, utilising smaller courts, lighter racquets and low compression tennis balls.
“We look forward to seeing Maitland Lutheran School, St Joseph’s School, Linden Park Primary School and Prince Alfred College at the Adelaide International in January.”
