9 August 2022 | Andriana Petrakis

On the 16th until 24th of July, I travelled to Poland with the Australian Team selected to represent Australia for the Virtus European Summer Games. I played tennis on the clay courts in Krakow.

My experience was amazing because I had the opportunity to play tennis overseas, made new friends and tried delicious Polish food. I went sightseeing around the towns of Krakow, Zakopane and Wieliczka.

I am very proud of myself that I received two bronze medals, one for mixed doubles and the other one for winning the women’s team event. This was my 3rd time being selected for the Australian team. First time was in 2019 for the Global Games, but I was unable to attend due to health reasons. The second time was to be in Belgium for the World Championships, but that was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic. It was 3rd time lucky, or maybe it was my hard work, dedication and commitment to my sport that got me selected for the European Summer Games in Poland.

I enjoyed my trip very much for the first time going overseas. It was the best thing ever!
