Congratulations to our South Australian officials, Robyn Tucker, Casey Jackson and Roger Gonzalez, on their recent course and event achievements.

Robyn Tucker

Robyn recently completed the ITF International Level 3 course in Florida, USA. This is an incredibly difficult course to master and Robyn passed, obtaining her Referee Silver Badge.

This is an incredible achievement from Robyn, and we look forward to seeing her officiate tournaments and events overseas and continue her officiating career.

Casey Jackson

Recently completed the ITF Officiating School In Bendigo, Victoria. Casey successfully passed the school and earned her International White Badge certification, topping the class of eight Australian and International Chair Umpires.

Across 5 days of intense learning, practical displays of skill and an exam, Casey benefitted from the experiences of Wayne McKewen (long-time Australian Open Referee) and Nitin Kannamwar (Gold Badge Referee). It was a great opportunity for Casey to test herself, gain knowledge and to progress her international Officiating journey.

Roger Gonzalez

Recently was announced as the Tennis Australia Officiating Ace of the Month for March. The Officiating Ace of the Month recognises an official from across Australia for going over and above.

At the Tennis SA Junior State League grand final, 2021 Chair Umpire program graduate Roger, was scheduled to Chair Umpire two Junior State League matches, but after the late withdrawal of a Level B Chair Umpire Roger offered to step up and umpire an additional match. The next day after being scheduled to Chair Umpire only one match at this higher level, Roger was again asked to do an additional match due to one of the men’s singles matches going for three hours. Not only did he enthusiastically and confidently step up to the plate, but Roger performed extremely well, stepping into the role of what has been in the past the exclusive domain of only experienced Level A and B Chair Umpires.

Women in Tennis

Robyn and Casey are also leading the way, exceeding the expectations as current officials in the Women and Girls Program, not only in South Australia, but nationwide in officiating.

Robyn and Casey, along with other local officials including Taegan White (a former top state Junior player and ballkid), continue to play a critical role in maintaining and increasing female participation in Tennis.

Taegan has recently become accredited as a Court Supervisor after excelling in Line Umpiring. Later this month she will also continue her Chair Umpire journey in Canberra at the National Claycourt Championships alongside Roger and other developing Australian Chair Umpires.
