The Direction for Activities has now been updated and came in to effect at 12.01 am, Thursday 12 August.

Density and mask requirements
The density and mask requirements for sports have been updated and are as follows:

Participants:

  • 1 person per 2 square metres for outdoor sports
  • 1 person per 4 square metres for indoor sports

Spectators:

  • 1 person per 2 square metres for outdoor sports (masks not required)
  • 1 person per 4 square metres for indoor sports (masks required)

Summary of Direction for Activities (effective as of 12.01 am, Thursday 12 August)
The following table is taken directly from page 5 of the Emergency Management (Activities—Associated Direction No 8) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 and summarises the restrictions imposed by this direction:

Level 1: Watch and assess
  • 3/4 density (for seated activities) – 3 people per 4 square metres
  • No communal consumption facilities
Additional restrictions
  • 1/2 density (for non-seated activities) – 1 person per 2 square metres
  • 1/4 density (indoor fitness facilities) – 1 person per 4 square metres
  • Seated food and beverage consumption only
  • CMP: events of more than 1 000 people
  • Shisha ban
  • Private activity cap: 10 (private activities at residential premises, including residents of residential premises)
  • Private activity cap: 50 (private activities at non-residential premises)
  • Masks for high risk settings
  • Masks for personal care services (except for the person receiving the service, if necessary for the provision of the personal care service)
  • Masks for health care services (except for the person receiving the service, if necessary for the provision of the health care service)
  • Masks for passenger transport services
  • Masks for indoor fitness facilities (except while exercising)
  • Masks for shared indoor public places (except bridal parties during ceremonies)
  • Restrictions on dancing and singing
