The Direction for Activities has now been updated and will come in to effect at 12.01 am tomorrow, Thursday 5 August.

Competitions will be able to recommence, subject to the 1 per 2 square metres density requirement (1 per 4 square metres for gyms and indoor fitness facilities) and sports spectator restrictions.

The following Tennis SA administered competitions will recommence this weekend, Friday 6 and Saturday 7 August:

  • Tennis SA Winter Pennant
  • Southern Districts Tennis Association Juniors
  • Eastern Districts Tennis Association Juniors
  • North East Tennis Association Juniors
  • Western Districts Tennis Association Orange Ball Match Play
  • Glenelg Districts Tennis Association Orange Ball Match Play

Sports spectator restrictions
Where the event, sports or fitness training is held outdoors, spectators must abide by the density requirement of 1 person per 2 square metres, remain physically distanced and wear face masks.

A mask need not be worn if the person is exempted, or if the person is eating or drinking. The general restrictions in regards to seated food or beverage consumption apply to spectators.

Summary of Direction for Activities (effective as of 12.01 am, Thursday 5 August)
The following table is taken directly from pages 3-4 of the Emergency Management (Activities—Associated Direction No 7) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 and summarises the restrictions imposed by this direction:

Level 2: Low restrictions
  • 1/2 density – 1 person per 2 square metres
  • No communal consumption facilities
  • CMP: events of more than 1 000 people
  • Shisha ban
  • Masks for high risk settings
  • Masks for personal care services (except for the person receiving the service, if necessary for the provision of the personal care service)
  • Restrictions on dancing and singing
Additional restrictions
  • Seated food and beverage consumption only
  • Private activity cap: 10 (including residents of residential premises)
  • Private activity cap: 50 (only for Weddings and Funerals outside residential premises)
  • Masks for health care services (except for the person receiving the service, if necessary for the provision of the health care service)
  • Masks for passenger transport services
  • Masks for indoor fitness facilities (except while exercising)
  • Masks for shared indoor public places (except bridal parties during ceremonies)
  • 1/4 density (indoor fitness facilities) – 1 person per 4 square metres
  • Sports spectator restrictions

Venue preparation
Before you open your tennis venue, please ensure that:

  • COVID-Safe plan is in place for the venue
  • COVID-SAfe Check-In QR codes are clearly displayed
  • COVID Marshal is in attendance at any times of expected high patronage, including times of planned activities
