Cobdogla Primary School (Cobdogla, SA) and Torrens Valley Christian School (Hope Valley, SA) have been named the 2020 South Australian ANZ Tennis Hot Shots school state champions, after winning their respective competitions at the Tennis SA Clay Courts.

The events are the culmination of 46 ANZ Tennis Hot Shots District
School Carnivals held around the state throughout 2020. The State Final was due
to be played in November but was delayed due to COVID restrictions.

Designed to provide a pathway for students to
participate in inter school sport, the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots School Carnivals
provide the opportunity for students of all abilities to play with their school
friends and meet other students from surrounding schools.

With a round robin style draw, the schools play
doubles matches with simple scoring and time keeping to ensure all students are
actively able to participate on the day.

Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey congratulated
all involved in the state finals.

“We congratulate Cobdogla Primary School, Torrens Valley Christian School and each of the schools, teachers and parents involved in the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots School State Finals last weej week,” Sterrey said.

“These events provide school children with a
fantastic introduction to our ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program, utilising smaller
courts, lighter racquets and low compression tennis balls.

“We look forward to our 2021 ANZ Tennis Hot Shots
District School Carnivals commencing soon and we can’t wait to see lots of
school children taking part across the state.”
