About the league

Junior State League is South Australia’s premier inter-club competition for the highest-performing junior players from across the state. Running on a weekly basis over the summer season, it features both the Boys’ Junior State League and the Girls’ Junior State League. 

Junior State League 2 is a second-tier competition designed to provide a pathway for junior players who have excelled at association level, helping them transition into Junior State League. 

Junior State League is an important part of South Australia’s Performance Pathway, offering talent development opportunities and a path to progress toward professional tennis. 


Selection criteria

Clubs affiliated with Tennis SA can nominate boys' team and/or girls' team to compete in either division or both.

All nominated players must have completed their CPP (Competitive Player Profile) and activated their UTR (Universal Tennis Rating).

Team nominations must be submitted online via League Manager. The nomination fee is $485 per team for Junior State League and $310 per team for Junior State League 2. Clubs that are accepted will receive an invoice once the nominations have been finalised.

Match schedule and requirements

2025-26 match schedule: 

  • First round: 17 October 2025 
  • Last round before Christmas: 5 December 2025 
  • Season Break: After 5 December 2025, to resume on 30 January 2026. 
  • Last round: 27 February 2026 
  • Finals series: The finals are going to be held over two weekends, starting on 13 March 2026, with the grand final taking place on 20-22 March 2026.  

Match requirements: 

  • Each match is made up of four singles matches and two doubles matches. 
  • All participating teams must play their singles players based on the singles Order of Merit. 
  • Each team may use up to eight players per match. If playing doubles, the top one or two ranked players in the Order of Merit must play in the top pairing. 
  • Each team needs to appoint a team manager (non-playing) or captain (playing) for each match.
