Junior State League – Winter

The Junior State League aims to provide SA's best junior players with the opportunity to progress and grow in a competitive environment.


About the league

The Junior State League is aimed at providing the best junior players in South Australia the opportunity to compete against each other in a weekly competition played over the Winter season.

Junior State League 2 (or JSL2) is aimed to create a pathway for players who have performed well at Association level and are striving to make the Junior State League competition.

The Junior State League competitions are played on Friday nights in a home and away structured competition.


Key criteria

The Key Changes to Winter Junior State League are:

  • Clubs may enter multiple teams
  • Each team must have 5 listed players, these players can not be listed on additional teams. Minimum of 4 matches played to qualify for finals
  • No changes can occur after nominations close
  • Must be 10 or older from May 15th
  • Finals to be hosted by the higher ranked team
  • Team fee: $200 across JSL and JSL 2

2026 key dates

Key dates for the 2026 season:

  • 23 March: online team nominations open
  • 6 April: online team nominations close
  • 15 May: first round commences
  • 14 August: last round commences
  • 21–28 August: finals week, with Grand Final taking place on 28 August
  • Matches will not be played over the Kings Birthday weekend of 5–7 June
  • Matches will not be played over the School Holidays between 3–18 July
