20th October – Newcastle Tennis Club

Register for each event via the Tournament Website.  The age groups are 9/u, 11/u, 13/u, 15/u + Open.  The ages apply up until 31st December 2019.  9/u participants will use green dot balls.  Please ensure your child has a registered Tennis Australia number.  If you need to register, please call 1800 752 983 to organise.

Match day

Matches will commence at 8:30am. Payment can be made at the venue and will be $15 per player.  The format will be ‘best of’ and determined by the number of players on a card.  The aim is for the kids to play between 28-30 games each in the day.  If there are 5 players on a card, the format will be best of 6 games (6-0 or 4-2 etc).  This will help to alleviate lengthy matches as well as wait times.  The total games won for each player will be tallied for an overall score at the end of the series.  There are no playoffs or trophies for 1st and 2nd places on the day, however prizes will be given out at the end of the series for the top 3 point scorers for each age.  There will be 2 boys and 2 girls (rotating) from each age group that will choose an award for 2 other players in their group.  These awards will be for things like ‘Sportsmanship’, ‘Most Improved’, ‘Outstanding Effort’ etc. for each event.

Lunch and After

The venues will put on a free sausage sizzle lunch for the kids.  Following this, if players wish to practice doubles match play, they can choose a player from their age group and use the same format as the singles.  Matches won in doubles will not count towards an individual’s point score.

We look forward to seeing you on the court!

Junior Development Series
