What We Do

Tennis NSW’s Business Development and Infrastructure & Planning Teams have developed important frameworks and resources to assist clubs, operators and councils plan, deliver and operate venues which support the growth of the sport across the State.

Whether it be planning your next facility upgrade; putting your club and project in the best position to attract grant funding; improve the financial performance and sustainability of a venue; or identify  areas of the venue operations to focus on to improve participation and other outcomes, we have the tools and advice to help.

Objectives

Our objective is to observe a material improvement in the participation pathway (opportunity to participate and the quality of that participation) and the benefits delivered to the community through Tennis, by:

  • Improving the network of tennis infrastructure across NSW – increase the number or, improve the quality of and ensure the adequate distribution of facilities across NSW
  • Improving the operational health and sustainability of Tennis NSW venues
  • Working collaboratively and effectively with all levels of Government and stakeholders to achieve aligned results over the long term

Key initiatives

Key initiatives currently include:

  • Tennis Restart and VSR (Venue Sustainability Rating) – a framework for collaboration, auditing, performance assessment and planning for future success
  • Stimulating investment into tennis infrastructure projects through the development of a State Infrastructure Strategy and advocacy to NSW, Federal and local Governments on the key priorities for tennis in NSW
  • Providing systems, support and assistance to our stakeholders (see below)

Support and assistance

Here is a summary of support and assistance provided in this space to Clubs, Operators and Councils:

  • Planning support and Local Government liaison – engagement and support with Council discussions, utilising Tennis Restart and Infrastructure Planning tools; assist in the development of council local tennis strategy
  • Project Readiness Guidance and Resources – Guidelines, standards, templates, and other vital resources to get your facility project started and over the line
  • Grants Toolkit – current/upcoming grant and funding opportunities from across State and Federal Government sources, and non-government sources
  • Tennis (direct) funding opportunities – including NSW ATP Cup Tennis Legacy Fund and National Court Rebate
  • Guidance on a range of infrastructure projects as well as sustainable venue management solutions such as Book a Court and wireless booking
  • Leasing and licensing – support and advice to councils, clubs and operators in developing, reviewing or negotiating leases, licenses and management agreements
