NSW Country Championships

The NSW Country Championships is an event that is steeped in history and considered to be the most prestigious Country Tennis event on the Tennis NSW Calendar.

Since the 1920’s the best Country Juniors and Seniors have competed for the more than 30 perpetual trophies on offer.  Previous winners include Tony Roche, Mark Edmondson, Jason Stoltenberg, Evonne Goolagong Cawley, Jan O’Neill (nee Lehane) and in more recent times Nathan Healey and Ashley Fisher.

Each year the event attracts more than 800 participants and spectators to the week-long event. In the past, this tournament has been hosted at regional centres such as Newcastle, Gosford, Tuggerah, Wollongong and Forster.

This year is lining up to be more than just a tennis tournament. There will be activities and events for everyone.

Update 26 June 2021

Tennis NSW has made the decision to cancel the 2021 Tennis Country Championships that were underway in Forster. This includes the Australian Money Tournament (AMT) which started Friday and the Junior Tournament (JT) which was scheduled to begin on Monday 28 June.

This decision was made following new restrictions announced by the NSW Government on Saturday 26 June 2021.

In fairness to all NSW players, the cancellation of events has been extended to all Australian ranking events scheduled to occur within NSW between 6pm Saturday 26 June to 11.59pm Friday 9 July.

This decision has been made in the interests of the health and wellbeing of our community. We want to avoid bringing crowds together in order to help contain the spread of COVID-19.
