Information for Clubs & Coaches

Resources & Guides

Clubs and coaches can access several LGBTQ+ inclusion resources via the Tennis NSW portal:

Pride in Sport & Pride in Sport Index

Tennis NSW is a member of Pride in Sport and participates annually in the Pride in Sport Index. This program supports clubs in understanding and implementing LGBTQ+ inclusive practices.

Pride in Sport is an ACON Pride Inclusion Program, specifically designed to assist sporting organisation of all levels with the inclusion of employees, athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators with diverse sexualities and genders.

The Pride in Sport Index (PSI) is the first and only benchmarking instrument specifically designed to assess the inclusion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) people within Australian sport and sporting organisations. Participating in the index allows Australian sporting organisations to not only assess their own work, but determine what constitutes good practice, along with the ability to benchmark initiatives against an external measure, and other sporting organisations.

Pride in Sport Index for Community Sports Clubs

The Community Sports Clubs Pride in Sport Index is a version designed for volunteer‑run grassroots clubs, with key benefits including:
• No cost to participate
• Confidential benchmarking
• Anonymous participation possible
• Year‑on‑year comparison of progress

Transgender Inclusion Guidelines

Tennis has developed our Transgender Inclusion Guidelines for Community Tennis. The purpose of the guidelines is to create awareness and inform clubs, coaches, participants and volunteers on how they can be supportive of people who identify as transgender. This resource also includes tips on how to foster positive experiences for all.

Dress code & Uniforms

Clubs are encouraged to adopt flexible, gender‑inclusive dress codes that respect all participants’ gender identity and expression. This includes providing a choice of uniforms, appropriate sizing and options suited to diverse body types.

Days of significance and resources

Welcome Here provides downloadable resources including posters, social media assets and information sheets to help clubs acknowledge and promote LGBTQ+ Days of Significance. These resources can be used for staff training, club promotion or community engagement.
