The Perpetual NSW Open has achieved a significant milestone, earning recognition as part of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Tournament Standards program, an acknowledgement reserved for events that meet and exceed the highest standards of tournament delivery.
As a result, the tournament will be showcased on the official ITF tournament page and calendar with a dedicated badge ahead of the next event, while the tournament director will also receive a formal letter and certificate from the ITF.
The award is based on a rigorous “health check” evaluation system, which measures how effectively a tournament meets ITF organisational requirements, with assessment weighted towards critical areas such as administration, facilities and equipment, and healthcare services. To qualify, tournaments must achieve a score of over 90 percent, placing the Perpetual NSW Open firmly among the world’s best performing events.
“This recognition is the culmination of five years of dedicated work by the entire Tennis NSW team to rebuild and elevate the NSW Open into a world-class event,” said Tennis NSW Pro Tour & Performance Specialist Susan Harris.
“To be acknowledged by the ITF and placed among the top 5-10% of tournaments globally is a tremendous honour, one that reflects the commitment, passion and countless hours our team has invested in making this event something truly special.”
This achievement is also significant within the Australian context, with only two tournaments nationally earning this recognition. It reflects not only the success of the event itself, but the broader strength of tournament delivery across New South Wales.
“Australia has an incredibly strong and competitive Pro Tour calendar, so to be singled out alongside Tennis SA as a standout in that landscape is something we are enormously proud of,” Harris said.
“It speaks to the culture of excellence we have worked hard to build at Tennis NSW and strengthens our resolve to keep pushing the event forward.”
At the heart of the Perpetual NSW Open’s success is its commitment to delivering a player-first experience. From arrival to departure, every detail is carefully considered to ensure athletes feel supported both on and off the court.
“We pride ourselves on getting the little things right. It is not just about running a well-organised tournament, it is about creating an experience that stays with people. Ultimately, we want players to leave the NSW Open wanting to come back,” Harris said.
Recognition is reviewed twice each year and is based on the most recent tournament performance, reinforcing the importance of maintaining consistently high standards.
“This recognition raises the bar and we welcome that,” Harris said.
“Each year we ask ourselves what we can do better, and each year we find the answer. Whether it is the player experience, the volunteer program, our operational standards or the atmosphere we create on site, there is always another level to reach for.”
The 2026 Perpetual NSW Open will be held at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre from 15–22 November.
