Tennis NSW has achieved Gold Tier Status in the Pride in Sport Index (PSI) for a third consecutive year, recognising its contributions and efforts made to the LGBTQIA+ space. Tennis NSW was honoured with this achievement at the 2026 Australian Pride in Sport Awards, held in Melbourne this week.

The PSI is Australia’s leading benchmarking tool designed to assess LGBTQIA+ inclusion in sport and sporting organisations.

Tennis NSW Head of Venue & Community Development, Nikita Sayle said, “This recognition reflects a sustained commitment from Tennis NSW to creating a sport where everyone feels welcome and included. Achieving Gold Tier status for the third consecutive year is something we’re proud of, but what matters most is seeing that commitment come to life across our network.

“We’re particularly proud of the way community venues are embracing and leading inclusive practices, and we’re incredibly grateful for the engagement and ongoing relationship we have with LGBTQIA+ clubs across NSW. We also acknowledge the support and guidance of Pride in Sport, whose partnership continues to strengthen our approach and impact.”

Additionally, Collaroy Tennis Club has retained its Silver Tier Status in the Community Club Pride in Sport Index. This marks the second consecutive year the club has been recognised for its outstanding commitment to advocating for and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. Key initiatives contributing to this achievement include the creation of Rainbow Racquets, an inclusive tennis program for LGBTQIA+ participants, hosting an AO Pride event and formally embedding inclusion within its organisational strategic plan.

Collaroy Tennis Club Committee Member – Inclusion and Diversity, David Keogh said, “This recognition reinforces our commitment to inclusion among current and prospective club members, and I believe is one of the main reasons we are attracting new members in such large numbers. It also reinforces our reputation within the wider Northern Beaches community and emphasises our commitment to making the Club a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.”

Meanwhile, City Community Tennis was a finalist in the LGBTQ+ Inclusive Innovation Award for its Trans Pathway to Rainbow Tennis.

Tennis NSW continues to advocate for LGBTQIA+ inclusion by supporting clubs and coaches through education opportunities, inclusive programming, and visibility at LGBTQIA+ community events such as Fair Day. Tennis NSW also works closely with LGBTQIA+ community clubs, including Amazon Women’s Tennis and Tennis Sydney, to consult on, promote and deliver programs that broaden access to tennis across the community.
