Wagga Wagga will take centre stage in regional tennis when it hosts the prestigious NSW Country Championships in both 2026 and 2027.

Rich in history and considered the premier country tennis event on the Tennis NSW calendar, the Championships have seen legends including Tony Roche, Mark Edmondson, Jason Stoltenberg, Evonne Goolagong Cawley claim titles across its celebrated history.

The 2026 edition will be held from Friday 3 July to Friday 10 July, with the tournament returning in July 2027, both staged at the Jim Elphick Tennis Centre. The newly revamped venue boasts 10 hard courts and five synthetic grass courts. These world-class facilities will give competitors an international standard playing experience, alongside a range of premium player services, including:

  • Access to Wagga Wagga Leisure Centre facilities (pools, spas, gym, sauna, warm-up/cool-down areas)
  • Player party sponsored by Wagga Wagga City Council
  • Player and parent arrival packs with discounts at local hospitality venues
  • VIP player services including massage, physio and dedicated lounge areas
  • On-site catering with full food and beverage service throughout the tournament

Furthermore, South Wagga, Hopwood Park Tennis Club and Coolamon Tennis Club will be utilised for the event. 

Tennis NSW Vice President and Tennis Country Chair Brett Bevan said the announcement marks an exciting new chapter for the event. “We are thrilled to confirm Wagga Wagga as the new host city. The Jim Elphick Tennis Centre offers outstanding facilities, and we look forward to working closely with the city to deliver an exceptional experience for our regional players. These Championships provide a crucial platform for country athletes to compete at their highest level.”

The NSW Country Championships will again shine a spotlight on regional talent, attracting top players from across the state and reaffirming Wagga Wagga’s status as a premier sporting destination.
