Amy Stevens captured her first professional title after beginning the week in qualifying at the Tweed Heads International W15.
The 22-year-old Victorian advanced through qualifying before continuing her winning run in the main draw to secure the championship.
The event was Stevens’ first tournament in Australia since completing her college career at Vanderbilt University in the United States. With a strong performance in the final, she defeated Hong Kong’s Cheuk Ying Shek 6-4 6-0.
In doubles action, Gabriella Da Silva Fick (NSW) was victorious alongside New Zealander Monique Barry for the women’s doubles at Tweed Heads.
The Australian Pro Tour resumes on 7 September, with the men contesting the Capital of Country International in Tamworth and the women competing for the Wagga Wagga International title.
