The Learn 2 Lead youth leadership program aims to equip young women aged 14-18 years with leadership skills and confidence to lead change in your local tennis communities.

Learn 2 Lead is an 8-week youth leadership program which includes a mix of online and face to face experiences. Through your own individual Learn 2 Lead workbook, you’ll be covering life and leadership skills, hands on activities and connecting with some well-known tennis leaders. Up to 12 young people in the state aged 14-18years will be accepted into the program.

You’ll be supported by program facilitators, two mentoring sessions, an online platform with resources and a supportive community of like-minded young people!

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

  1. Equips young women in tennis with life and leadership skills to build their self confidence
  2. Embed youth voices in local tennis communities
  3. Engage more young women in leadership opportunities within tennis
  4. Ensure the program is truly inclusive – particularly culturally, socio-economically and geographically.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  1. Young women aged 14-18 years who want to:
  2. Build life and leadership skills
  3. Feel confident and unlock you own power to step into leadership roles at your local tennis community
  4. Increase youth voices and gender equality in local tennis communities
  5. Connect with like-minded young people

Within our Australian Tennis Sustainability Strategy, we have a mission to be a global leader in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and widely known as a sport open for all.  We want to reflect the diversity of our communities across all aspects of our workplace, sport and events.

We are particularly keen to receive applications from young people from regional areas and young people from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, LGBTQ+ and living with disability.

KEY DATES:

Saturday 18 May & Sunday 19 May 2024 and Saturday 29 June 2024 are Face-to-face workshop days at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre.

  1. Workshop 1 : Saturday 18 May 12.45pm – 7pm and Sunday 19 May, 8.45am – 3pm at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre. (face-to-face days)
  2. Workshop 2 Online session** : Tuesday 21 May, 5-6pm
  3. Workshop 3 Online session**: Tuesday 28 May, (20min Learning journey check-in)
  4. Workshop 4 Online session**: Tuesday 4 June, 5-6pm
  5. Workshop 5 Online session**: Tuesday 11 June, 5-6pm
  6. Workshop 6 Online session**: Tuesday 18 June, 5-6pm
  7. Workshop 7 Online session**: Tuesday 25 June, 5-6pm
  8. Workshop 8 & Graduation : Saturday 29 June, 9.15am-3.30pm at Sydney Olympic park Tennis Centre (face-to-face day)

Please note that participants must attend Workshop 1 & 8 (face to face) in person.

**Please note: online sessions will be recorded if you are unable to attend – we don’t want you to miss out! We understand there’s lots of different commitments you’re balancing, but we strongly encourage you to attend if you can.

PROGRAM FEE:

This program is valued at $2,000 and is subsided by an Australian Sports Commission federal government grant. The participant will not incur any cost.

Regional travel subsidies are available.
