The semifinals have been completed and the stage has been set for a big final day at the NSW Open.

Hometown hero, Rinky Hijikata (NSW) came out firing in the first set against Taro Daniel (JPN), winning the set 6-3. In the second set, Daniel came back stronger and was able to turn the match around. After a grueling two-hours on Centre Court, Daniel was able to secure his spot in the finals, defeating Hijikata 3-6, 6-2, 7-6.

After tweaking his ankle yesterday, Thanasi Kokkinakis (SA) was unable to complete his match today against Marc Polmans (VIC) and was forced to retire. Polmans will take on Daniel tomorrow on Centre Court and battle it out for the 2023 NSW Open Singles title.

The women’s final will feature Destanee Aiava (VIC) and Astra Sharma (WA). Aiava defeated wildcard, Maya Joint (AUS) in three sets, 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, while Sharma overcame Hikaru Sato (JPN) in three sets, 6-4,2-6,1-6.

The doubles finals were also played today, with the all-American pairing of Ryan Seggerman and Patrik Trhac defeating Ruben Gonzales (PHL) and Jisun Nam (KOR). In the women’s doubles finals, Destanee Aiava and Madison Inglis (WA) managed to quickly defeat Kyoka Okamura (JPN) and Ayano Shimizu (JPN), 6-0, 6-0.

The men’s singles final will kick off at 11am between Marc Polmans and Taro Daniel.  Following the men’s final, the all Australian women finals between Destanee Aiava and Astra Sharma will be played.
