Tennis Terranora | Northern NSW

Tennis Terranora is a scenically located tennis club, in Terranora, on the very far north coast of NSW. The club comprises of three natural grass courts, two clay courts, three had courts and an impressive, award-winning design and constructed clubhouse.

Originally operating from a different location, the club was offered the opportunity to move and set up a whole new centre from scratch. Much thought was given to designing the centre. Unfortunately two years after the clubhouse was completed the building was burnt to the ground, as a result of arson.

After much sadness, the devastated committee, volunteers and supporters of Tennis Terranora decided to join together and commit to the rebuild.

Two major fundraisers were held with Pat Rafter coming on board for a “Wimbledon Ball” to be held at their local school, Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School. In support of their Wimbledon theme ball, a surprise package was received containing a Roger Federer signed tennis ball after being used at the previous Wimbledon Men’s Singles Championship Finals.

With the clubhouse completed for the second time, they now had to get back to constructing their much anticipated lawn courts. Following the completion of construction of three new grass courts, the club was sent authentic Wimbledon net posts from the All England Lawn Tennis Club. The club is grateful for this kind gesture and never fail to tell their players, “yes, they are the real deal!”

On the official opening day of the lawn courts they were honoured with the company of much loved Ken Rosewall and Barbara Goolagong on behalf of her sister, Evonne. It was a fitting celebration of all that the club had been through…. along with cucumber sandwiches, strawberries and cream, while enjoying a Pimm’s.
