Day 3 of the NSW Open has now been completed. Today saw 27 matches played. This included first round matches in both the Men’s and Women’s Singles as well as the doubles.

After his match being suspended last night due to rain, Aleksandar Vukic (NSW) returned today to finish off his match with a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win over Colin Sinclair (NMI). In blustery conditions, Sydney local, Rinky Hijikata (NSW) fought hard but unfortunately went down in 3 tough sets to Yuta Shimizu (JPN) 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Other Australians who had wins today Include Alex Bolt, Max Purcell, James McCabe, Marc Polmans, Luke Saville and Tristan Schoolkate.

In the Women’s Singles today number 4 seed Olivia Gadecki (QLD) had a convincing win over Chihiro Maramatsu (JPN) 6-2, 6-0. There were also wins for fellow Auatralian’s Sara Nayar, Alana Parnaby and Kayla McPhee in the Singles.

In the Doubles Mark Whitehouse (GBR)/Edward Winter (AUS) defeated Aaron Addison (AUS)/Calum Puttergill (AUS) 4-6, 6-4, 10-3. In the battle of the Taylor brothers, younger brother Jason and partner Matthew Romios (AUS) came out as victors over Adam and his partner Jeremy Beale (AUS) 7-6 (0), 4-6, 10-8 in a tough match that was interrupted by rain at 6-6 in the match tie break.

In the Women’s Doubles, it was an all Aussie sweep with wins to Destanee Aiava and Lisa Mays, Alexandra Bozovic and Talia Gibson, Kimberly Birrell and Maddison Inglis and Petra Hule and her partner Makenna Jones (USA).
