Day 2 of the NSW Open has been completed. Today saw 17 matches played with the 18th match suspended due to rain. The final round of qualifying was completed for both the men and women.

In the Men’s Qualifying it was a mixed bag of results for NSW players with both Jordan Smith and Blake Mott going down in tough matches. NSW Male Junior Athlete of the Year Jeremy Jin had a convincing win over Ken Cavrak (SA) 6-3 6-0.

In the Women’s Qualifying all 8 seeds won their place in the Main draw with NSW local Lisa Mays beating fellow NSW player Zara Brankovic 6-3, 3-6, 10-3 in a rain interrupted match.

Newly crowned City of Playford International winner and NSW young gun, Rinky Hijikata, will open proceedings on Court 2 against Yuta Shimizu (JPN), with fellow New South Wales players Jeremy Jin, Max Purcell and Aleksandar Vukic also competing in the Men’s Main Draw tomorrow.

In the Doubles, NSW brothers Adam and Jason Taylor will go head to head as they play their first round doubles against each other. Women’s Doubles action also begins tomorrow for NSW players Alexandra Bozovic, Zara Brankovic and Lisa Mays.
