The states’ best juniors will be heading to
Canberra for the upcoming Clay Court Nationals 6-11 April 2021.  New South
Wales has dominated the entry lists with almost a third of all competitors
coming from New South Wales.  The 14 under Girls have our best representation
with NSW having 15 of the 32 players in draw.  This is the first National
Championships since the December Showdown in 2019.  With Covid-19 halting
all Australian Ranking Tournaments in 2020, the focus in New South Wales was
directed to level based competitive play opportunities and utilising the UTR
platform to offer Covid safe play.  With the Universal Tennis Rating being
the currency for entry acceptance into Australian Ranking Tournaments, the
decision to promote UTR’s in 2020 has significantly assisted the NSW playing
community.

New South Wales National Development Squad Coach
Ben Pyne will be heading to Canberra to support the private coaches and
players. “I am really excited to see the #Bluewall and New South Wales tennis
represented so strongly in Canberra.  Everyone’s excited to be preparing
for a National event and to be competing again in a National Championship.”

We wish all NSW competitors the best of luck in
Canberra.
