It is with great sadness that we wish to advise the NSW tennis family of the passing of Ellen Gordon, the current President of the Newcastle & District Tennis Association on Saturday 26th September.

Ellen was a committed and passionate member of our tennis community for many years, as a player, official and administrator. Her tennis journey started in Sydney playing junior representative tennis for Western Suburbs Tennis Association before later moving to Newcastle, her involvement with the Association starting in 2002.

She has held the reins as President of NDTA for the past 16 years and was also a passionate supporter of Tennis Country, serving as Country Delegate for Northumberland from 1986 through to 2018. Many clubs and associations throughout NSW also benefited from her skills and knowledge as a Tournament Director and qualified Tennis Australia Official & Referee.

She will be greatly missed and the Board, Management and Staff of Tennis NSW wish to send our sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Should any member of the tennis family wish to pass on their respects, Ellen’s family have asked for donations in lieu of flowers and that these be made to the Calvary Mater Newcastle, the link to which can be found here.
