This year has been a great success for the Active Kids program, with an announcement in July 2019 that two x $100 vouchers can be redeemed for school aged children. Aimed at encouraging kids to get active, these vouchers can go towards coaching and registration fees for a sport of their choice.

On Thursday 5 September, Minister for Sport, John Sidoti and Minister for Customer Service, Victor Dominello announced that one million Active Kids vouchers have been redeemed this calendar year. The announcement took place at Cintra Park Tennis Centre, where the Academy (FX Tennis Academy) have redeemed $19,000 worth of vouchers this year, resulting in more kids getting on court and families saving on coaching fees. It has also been reported that tennis is now the 8th ranked sport in NSW with 24,000 vouchers redeemed this year, totaling $2.4 million.

Tennis NSW CEO Lawrence Robertson was also in attendance and said Active Kids has assisted Tennis NSW in getting more kids playing tennis at a grassroots level.

“Active Kids go far and I encourage all families to take advantage of the second Active Kids voucher and enrol in a sport or recreation, like tennis, over summer,” Mr Robertson said.

This year Tennis NSW have continued to promote the program, providing clubs with a toolkit to market their services at a local level. The Active Kids program is an opportunity for clubs to promote participation in our sport at a grass roots level in their local communities, and leverage this initiative to increase club membership.

At Tennis NSW, we are encouraging kids and parents to get in contact with their local Active Kids tennis club and get active on court.
