There were highlights all round on Day 1 and 2 of the Albury City International. The weather was hot as expected but the grass courts are pulling up beautifully. See some of the highlights below from the days play.

Day 1

The first round of the Qualifying draw was played today at the Albury City Tennis International.

It was a day where the seeded players in qualifying made a good start to their Tournaments, with a majority winning through to tomorrow’s final round of qualifying matches.

NSW players in the qualifying draw; Connor Johnson, Benard Nkomba and Tom Evans bowed out of the Tournament today, but will take valuable exposure to matches at this level moving forward.

Day 2

The final round of Singles Qualifying matches, as well as Main Draw Singles and Doubles Matches were played today at the Albury City Tennis International.

 Four of the qualifying matches went the distance, being decided by a third set match tiebreak.
Ken Cavrak (VIC) took full advantage of his Wildcard into the Qualifying draw, with an impressive 6-3 4-6 10-4 victory against Jayden Court(QLD) to secure a place in the Main Draw.

 In the Singles Main Draw, number 1 seed Brydan Klein (GBR) started his Tournament with a 6-3 6-0 win against Matthew Dellavedova (VIC), whilst Yuta Shimizu (JPN) was pushed all the way by Ajeet Rai (NZL), winning 6-0 3-6 7-6(5).
Main Draw Singles matches continue tomorrow, as well as the final Doubles match to complete the first round of matches in that draw.
